A filter press machine is an industrial solid-liquid separation unit that filters liquid-solid suspensions under high pressure, separating the solid phase (filter cake) from the liquid phase. The suspension compressed between interlocking filter plates is filtered through the filter cloths on the plates; the cake remains between the plates while the filtrate is discharged.
HK Makine filter press machines are delivered as fully integrated units featuring an S355 high-strength steel frame, PP or cast iron filter plates, automatic plate clamping unit, filter cloth tensioning system and PLC automation panel.
Key advantage of filter presses: Compared to alternatives such as centrifuges and belt filters, filter presses deliver the driest cake (lowest moisture content), highest filtrate clarity and the greatest process flexibility. With membrane type presses, cake moisture can be reduced to as low as 15%.
HK Makine produces three different filter press constructions. The most appropriate type is selected based on your suspension's characteristics, target cake moisture and process flow.
HK Makine filter press frames are manufactured from S355 high-strength structural steel with an epoxy primer + industrial paint system for corrosion protection. Upper and lower tie rods (traverses) are sized according to the hydro-pneumatic clamping force required.
PP (Polypropylene) Plates: Lightweight (1/5 of cast iron weight), broad chemical resistance (pH 1–14), operating range -10°C to +90°C. Recommended for most chemical and food applications.
Cast Iron Plates: Higher mechanical strength for high-pressure (16+ bar) and high-temperature (+120°C) applications.
The plate pack is locked by hydraulic cylinder or screw system. Automatic models include PLC-controlled pressure measurement and a safe clamping lock. Clamping force ranges from 100 to 4,000 kN.
Filter cloth selection is determined by suspension particle size, pH, temperature and filtrate clarity target. PP, PE, polyester and cotton monofilament/multifilament cloth options are available. Wrong cloth selection directly affects filter performance.
Fully automatic models include Siemens/Mitsubishi PLC, touchscreen HMI panel, automatic plate-shifting mechanism and cake drop system as standard. Modbus/Profibus integration support for SCADA and factory automation systems.
In membrane presses, after cake formation membranes are inflated with compressed air (4–10 bar) or water. Membrane material options: EPDM, rubber or PP-coated PP. Typical membrane life: 200,000–500,000 cycles.
